THE STORY

maybe coffee?

It started with a
1972 Citroënand a
very good question.

A woman wearing a beige apron with "MAY DAY COFFEE & SWEET THINGS" written on it, smiling and holding a small cup of coffee, standing beside a vintage coffee truck.

MAY DAY is a mobile café run by two people who couldn't find a good cortado near the park, so they bought a very old truck and fixed exactly one of its many problems (the espresso machine). Since spring 2024 we've been parking somewhere lovely in New York most mornings — SoHo on Mondays, Williamsburg midweek, the river on weekends.

The name? A distress call, technically. It's what you say before your first coffee. We're the answer.

We keep the menu short, bake with our friends at Verne's in Greenpoint, and remember your order by the third visit. That's the whole business model.
